Twenty-Eight Famous Men and Women
Palestine, 2007

To the less sympathetic, Palestinian children are helpless victims of opportunistic leaders, manipulative education and inadequate society. Conversely, others describe an unfairly 'hollowed out' existence in which kids live in perpetual fear, growing up too quickly and never receiving any of the needed emotional outlets. Meanwhile, the endless and endlessly discussed conflict that surrounds them, has hung a certain fame over Palestinian children. Most have only known resistence or stifling isolation from living under occupation. Many have been shot, beaten or imprisoned and expect to be so again. I'm not sure why this hasn't broken their spirit in half.
